Steve Rogers is back for another adventure in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but things have changed since his first time out. After the big event in New York from Avengers, Captain America has been working with S.H.I.E.L.D. to protect the world, but as the soldier displaced in time tries to adjust to the new world, the realization that he is far from content with his situation sets in, and he does not know the half of it.
The first movie is referenced quite a bit with flashbacks, even containing an interesting historical twist, but The Winter Soldier shows from the start that this is a another time and a much different movie, darker in tone and causing major shifts within its characters. A lot happens in the film: important events link back, a lot of innocent people are caught in the crossfire, and everyone has secrets. This is not just a great action movie, but is a classic spy film in some ways. Though the beginning feels very chaotic story-wise, it all comes together nicely in a wildly fun ride.
