The first Iron Man (2008) film is one of my favorite superhero movies to date. The follow-up, Iron Man 2 (2010), was nowhere near as good as the first, but upon multiple viewings I appreciate a lot of things the movie did. When Iron Man 3 came out recently, I was concerned. The last film in the franchise did not do well amongst fans, and the Avengers movie threatened to set the bar too high for the third installment to look like anything more than a cheap cash-in. It did not help matters that I was unable to see the film on opening weekend and heard a lot of mixed opinions on it. When I finally saw it, however, I left the theater quite pleased and excited for the future of Iron Man.
